In 2012, Melissa held the unfortunate title of the heaviest woman in the world. She was only 31 years old and weighed nearly 660 pounds. She dreamed of becoming a mother—but she seemed a prisoner of her own body.

Every movement was an enormous effort. She could barely move her legs and realized that soon she would never walk at all.

As a young woman, Melissa never imagined she would become the heaviest woman in the world.

She didn’t remember ever being thin. From childhood, food was comfort and joy for her. Her parents spoiled her, without considering the consequences of such indulgence.

At 18, Melissa already weighed 265 pounds. At the time, she didn’t see it as a problem: she was still active, cheerful, and surrounded by friends. Men noticed her, and she felt attractive.

At 22, fate brought her together with Chris. He sincerely loved her, and her excess weight didn’t bother him. By then, Melissa already weighed 150 kg. They soon married, dreaming of a large family.

Years passed, and the pregnancy didn’t materialize. The doctors agreed: at that weight, she would be unable to conceive or carry a pregnancy to term.

This was a hard blow for Melissa. She realized she couldn’t stay in that body any longer. After much consideration, she decided to have surgery: surgeons removed part of her stomach.

When she awoke, she felt a strange sensation—for the first time, she wasn’t hungry. Her portions were significantly reduced: she could barely eat 100 ml per meal, often eating less.

The weight began to drop rapidly. In three years, Melissa lost 200 kg, and in the next two years, another 30 kg. In total, she lost 230 kg, achieving a phenomenal result: 62 kg!

Everything changed. She learned to love herself in a new way. She managed to regain her health and, most importantly, Melissa became a mother. Three times at once. Her dream had come true.

This incredible story has inspired many. A support project for people with food addictions was created in her honor, helping dozens of overweight people overcome fears and illnesses—and start a new life.
