If a baby weighs between four and five kilograms at birth, doctors refer to it as a large fetus. However, the child’s height is not taken into account. Even large babies exceed this size, reaching up to 56 cm at birth. According to statistics, large babies represent between 5 and 10% of all pregnancies.

In 1983, when 24-year-old Patricia Clarke became pregnant, she had more than a feeling that her unborn child would be large. She knew that large families ran in her family, as she had already given birth to one. However, the size of the baby she was carrying was completely unexpected.

Kevin Robert Clark was born to Patricia and weighed over 15 pounds—a huge baby. He was the largest baby ever born at Community Memorial Hospital and perhaps in all of New Jersey at that time. His parents were relieved to find that Kevin was perfectly healthy, even though he didn’t fit in a standard-sized crib and his baby clothes were much too small.

As expected, his height was immediately noticeable. His national fame skyrocketed after appearing on “Saturday Night Live” and “Good Morning America,” among others. Unfortunately, Kevin isn’t done in the spotlight yet.
According to the New York Post, he was 6 feet tall when he was 12 years old. By the time he entered college, he was already 5 feet 11 inches (1.80 m). He continued to grow after that. “Not a day goes by without someone asking me how tall I am,” Kevin told the Post.
