In 2015, hairdresser Joshua Coombes made a decision that changed his life forever.
Returning from work, he encountered a homeless man he had seen several times in the same spot. Other times, he would buy him food or give him coins. But this time, they struck up a real conversation.

Then Joshua had a brilliant idea. As a barber, he could help the man by giving him a new haircut that would give him a boost.
Joshua had all the necessary tools to achieve a significant transformation. The homeless man was grateful and readily agreed to have his unkempt hair and long beard cut. Soon, many other homeless people learned about Joshua, and whenever he had the chance, he cut the hair of anyone who wanted it.

One of the many people Joshua met was Monty, about whom he wrote on his Instagram.
Monty and Joshua’s paths crossed in Sydney. When Joshua greeted Monty, he was surprised. It was as if Joshua was the first person to greet him in a very, very long time.

Finally, Joshua offered to cut Monty’s hair and was able to borrow a chair from a nearby hostel.
After many cuts and trims, only short hair remained; the long beard and hair were gone. After the session with Joshua, the man smiling happily at the camera looks completely different.
It’s hard to believe these photos are of the same person.
