Chahat Kumar was born into an Indian family and initially looked like any other newborn. But already at four months, it was clear she was different. Her constant begging for food was a real torment. Any attempt to reduce her portions would trigger tears.
When her parents took her for a thorough examination, the staff was shocked: she weighed almost 20 kilos! More than two newborns combined.
It later emerged that she suffers from a rare genetic condition that affects fewer than a hundred people worldwide.
The family, however, took it philosophically: if she has such a huge appetite, it’s a sign that it’s meant to be.
Today, the little girl is four years old. She still eats with a great appetite and her body weight is much higher than normal.
Fortunately, she has no complications: her health is stable and there is currently no cause for concern.
