Hardly anyone questions her identity. It’s Luna Ferrer, a girl born with a large black spot covering almost her entire face. This rare condition is called a birthmark. Her utterly distinctive appearance was a huge surprise not only to family members but also to medical staff.
The only solution was 80 surgeries proposed by American scientists, which her parents couldn’t afford. Treatment was urgently needed, so a Russian surgeon rushed to the family’s aid as soon as he was informed of the little heroine’s condition.
As a result, the family moved to Russia for the sake of their little angel and stayed there for about two years so doctors could perform surgeries and give Luna a chance to recover and start a normal life. A series of medical procedures were performed, one after another.
